MANY of us have felt scared or anxious when faced with math. Apparently, our anxiety on this subject triggers a response similar to the brain when a person experiences physical pain.
Researchers used brain scans to see the active regions of the brain when someone is anxious face of mathematics. And the brain sends a signal to turn anxiety about math as something harmful to the body. It is similar to when the body physical pain, as reported by Health24.
For people who feel anxious when faced with math, they have unwittingly anticipated to not really do math. Activation of the brain itself suggests, is not a response that makes math painful, but the anticipation is now facing a painful lesson.
The results of MRI scans showed that anticipation in math cause responses in the brain that are similar to physical pain. Anticipation is activate posterior insula-fold of tissue that lies deep in the brain, just above the ear associated with a direct threat to the body, as well as the experience of pain.
