The rappers are proficient rhythmically chanting the words spontaneously with a fast tempo, it makes more active brain function. So it is not surprising that a rapper more usually very creative.
According to a study published online in the journal Scientific Reports suggests that the brain is very active as a rapper has been trained in improvising rap lyrics freestyle (freestyle).
Researchers from the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) in the United States conducted a study to determine the brain activity of a rapper. The study involved the rappers who have experienced at least 5 years.
Previously, participants were asked to learn the lyrics to rap first. Then the researchers monitored the brain activity of a rapper using MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), when participants sang improvised rap lyrics with words, rhythm, and 12 kinds of freestyle rap.
The results showed that when participants with freestyle rapping, there was increased activity in the medial prefrontal cortex, a brain area responsible for motivation, thoughts and actions. At the same time, there was decreased activity in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, the brain region that normally play a role to supervision or monitoring.
"The shift in brain function rapper could promote free expression of thoughts and words without the usual constraints of nerves," said Liu Siyuan, who led the study, as reported by Health24, Monday (19/11/2012).
The researchers also found that rap freestyle perisylvian system can increase the activity of the brain (language production), the amygdala (emotions) and the cingulate motor area. This suggests that improvisation involves brain tissue that connects motivation, language, mood, and action, which encourages a person to be more creative.
