In order to be lasting marriage, each partner is required to get along as well as to communicate things well. But sometimes before releasing the single, it would be nice if you also smart to choose a potential mate. To that end, a new study suggests that you choose a pair that comes from a happy family.

For teenagers who come from a warm family, full support and can continue to be positive in the midst of any conflict will likely grow up to be adults who have a similar style of supportive communication in marriage or family relationships he formed later. In fact they also tend to be more satisfied in marriage.

"'Climate' is in a family plays an important role in this regard. Families who have a 'climate' positive will result in individuals who have a positive attachment to a partner," says researcher Robert Ackerman of the University of Texas, Dallas.

This conclusion was obtained after Ackerman and his colleagues studied data collected between the years 1989-1991 on 288 grade 7 students. To increase the accuracy of the data, the researchers also visited the family of the participants, including the record number of participating family discussions about the sources of conflict they face together like sharing the housework.

Then the researchers assessed the ability of the participants and their families to communicate clearly and assertively (in the discussion) while still showing warmth and support to other family members.

20 years later, the researchers scanned the participants who have been growing up, mainly to see how the participants' interactions with their partner. Researchers also asked about their marital relationship and observe the interaction between the two that lasted for 25 minutes.

"Children who come from families with a base of warm and supportive communication in the family tend to be more satisfied with their marriage. They were also more often positive marital interactions and demonstrate effective communication following the warmth of her partner," Ackerman said as quoted by FoxNews.

But the findings can not prove that a warm family upbringing certainly encourage someone to be more supportive in her marriage. Only when researchers ignore the fact that some people do tend to be supportive of everyone, in fact, predicted a warm family environment that will encourage more positive interactions in marriage to participants a few years later, he concluded.

The study has been published in the journal Psychological Science.
